Swiggy has enabled more than 50,000 delivery partners across its Food Marketplace and Instamart businesses to file Income Tax Returns (ITR) directly through its delivery partner app. The initiative facilitated cumulative income tax refund claims of INR 6.5 crores for delivery partners.
More than one-third of the delivery partners who used the service filed their ITR for the first time, according to Swiggy. The company said filing returns can also help delivery partners establish a formal financial history, which may support access to financial services such as loans and rental agreements.
Saurav Goyal, Chief Operating Officer, Food Marketplace, Swiggy said, “For our delivery partners, long-term stability is about building a recognized financial identity. By enabling our delivery partners to file their Income Tax Returns (ITR) seamlessly, we are helping thousands of them become a part of the formal economy. This is a vital stepping stone that establishes their credit footprint, ultimately unlocking doors to a range of financial services that can transform the future for them and their families.”
Swiggy partnered with tax technology platforms ClearTax, TaxBuddy and Dvara Money to facilitate the filing process. The company has also previously worked with the National Stock Exchange and Zerodha on financial training and investment-related initiatives for its delivery partners.
The initiative forms part of Swiggy’s broader engagement with its delivery workforce, alongside its food delivery and quick-commerce operations through Food Marketplace and Instamart.
