Mumbai-based vegetarian restaurant chain Shiv Sagar has expanded its presence with the launch of a new outlet in Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills, marking the brand's entry into one of India's fastest-growing food and hospitality markets.
Founded in 1981 by entrepreneur Shankar Rama Poojary, Shiv Sagar has grown into one of Mumbai's well-known vegetarian dining brands. The restaurant chain is recognised for introducing popular Mumbai street food and multi-cuisine offerings into organised restaurant dining at a time when traditional Udupi restaurants primarily focused on South Indian dishes such as idli, dosa, upma and sheera.
Over the years, the brand has built its reputation around signature offerings including Bombay-style pav bhaji, Mumbai-style pizzas topped with Amul cheese, faloodas, dry fruit milkshakes, fresh juices and dessert beverages. Its menu has evolved to include South Indian, North Indian, Indo-Chinese and Italian-inspired dishes, catering to changing consumer preferences across generations.
The restaurant is also known for dishes such as Chinese Bhel and Chilli Idli, which have become popular among its loyal customer base. The Hyderabad outlet has been designed to introduce the brand's signature Mumbai favourites while catering to local dining preferences. The menu will retain Shiv Sagar's core offerings alongside selections curated for the city's diverse culinary landscape.
Shridhar S. Poojary, Managing Director of the company, said, "We are excited to bring Shiv Sagar to Jubilee Hills, a neighbourhood known for its dynamic culinary culture. Hyderabad appreciates bold flavours and diverse dining experiences, and we look forward to introducing our iconic Mumbai favourites while building lasting connections with food lovers in the city."
The launch marks another milestone for the 45-year-old brand as it expands beyond its traditional markets. With Hyderabad's growing demand for established restaurant brands and multi-cuisine dining concepts, Shiv Sagar's entry reflects the continued expansion of legacy hospitality businesses into new urban markets.
