Robata KUURAKU brings the centuries-old art of Robatayaki to Mumbai. With their Japanese grilling technique that turns simple ingredients into smoky, umami-packed dishes, the new outlet is opened at Gourmet Village in Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel. With its open kitchen, immersive interiors, and the city’s largest sake collection, it offers a dining experience that blends tradition with modern flair.

Part of the global KUURAKU brand, already present across Japan, Canada, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India, this is its eighth and most ambitious Indian outpost. Operated by Japanese professionals, the restaurant celebrates Robata-style grilling, where seafood, meats, and vegetables are slow-cooked over lava stones to highlight their natural essence—a style that resonates beautifully with Indian palates.

The open kitchen and counter seating gives unique experiences, while signatures like Namatsukune—minced chicken skewers seasoned with recipes passed down by master chefs—reflect the purity, simplicity, and precision of Japanese cuisine. At its heart is Mumbai’s largest Sake Bar, featuring over 30 rare and premium sakes curated from Japan, guided by certified sommeliers. From delicate to umami-rich, the collection pairs seamlessly with the menu, while sake-led cocktails add a contemporary twist.

“The design of Robata KUURAKU is inspired by traditional Japanese restaurants, using warm lighting and an abundance of natural wood. For the first time within the KUURAKU group, we have introduced a dedicated sake bar, beautifully decorated with sakura elements.
