Restaurant India News: Marseli Debuts in HSR Layout, Bengaluru: A Heartfelt Tribute to Mentor 'Chef Marseli'

Marseli Café & Patisserie opens in HSR Layout at Bengaluru, represents a deeply personal journey: it is a living tribute by Chef Suresh Kumar M, a seasoned chef and entrepreneur, to his late mentor, Chef Marseli.

Behind the kitchen is Chef Suresh, whose journey began with Leon’s Burgers, a fast-growing brand known for its quick service and consistency. The vision extends well beyond one outlet: Chef Suresh envisions Marseli as India’s benchmark for artisanal cafés, expanding across Bengaluru and into key metros while staying rooted in its core philosophy of authenticity.

Marseli’s interiors were conceived as a “slice of Europe in Bengaluru.” The design is minimal and timeless, with a warm neutral palette, natural textures, and soft lighting that make the food the centerpiece. The patisserie counter, inspired by Parisian and Milanese cafés, acts as a focal point — an edible art gallery where pastries and desserts gleam like jewels.

“Marseli is more than a café – it’s a tribute, a legacy, and a promise. A tribute to my mentor, a legacy of authentic European cooking, and a promise to our customers that everything we serve is made with honesty and craft,” says Chef Suresh, Founder, Marseli.

Supporting the vision behind Marseli is Co-Founder Uday Rao P, an entrepreneur, passionate foodie, and traveller who earlier ran three Leon’s franchises. With his sharp business acumen and hands-on approach, Uday strengthens Marseli’s focus on combining artisanal craft with operational excellence. Marseli has an expansive menu of over 300 dishes, bringing the charm of European café culture to Bengaluru in a way that’s both authentic and approachable. Unlike most cafés that rely on frozen imports or ready-made bases, Marseli takes pride in making everything in-house from scratch, every single day.

The patisserie counter is a highlight featuring delicate creations like macarons, tarts, cheesecakes, danishes, meringues, and the signature babka, all displayed like edible works of art. The café also serves house-made gelatos and an all-day dining menu spanning French toast, crepes, smoothie bowls, sandwiches, soups, salads, and even English breakfast platters — making Marseli a destination for both indulgence and comfort.

The beverage program mirrors this attention to detail, offering classic coffees, pour-overs, matcha, teas, hot chocolate, juices, milkshakes, and mocktails, all crafted to complement the food and elevate the overall experience.
