Leisure Hotels Group (LHG), North India’s leading experiential resort chain rooted in Uttarakhand’s Dev Bhumi, has marked a key milestone at The Riverview Retreat, its flagship property established in 2000. The resort, which first introduced villa-style suites along the banks of the Kosi River, has evolved into a signature wildlife destination set against a dense forest backdrop and spread across 10 acres of tranquil wilderness.
To commemorate the occasion, the Group has unveiled its latest addition, ‘The Sanctuary Suites’, a newly designed block of 18 expansive suites that elevates the property’s offerings and ushers the resort into its next chapter. With this launch, The Riverview Retreat now features 110 keys, making it one of the largest resorts in the region.
LHG continues to shape Corbett’s tourism landscape, from pioneering the area’s early luxury hospitality in 1993 to building one of the most diverse portfolios of experiential resorts in North India.
On the occasion Vibhas Prasad, Director Leisure Hotels Group said, “Corbett has shaped our philosophy of experiential travel from the very beginning. As The Riverview Retreat marks 25 years, we are deeply grateful to guests, associates, communities, and to the natural heritage that inspires us to dream bigger and shape a more responsible vision for the future for wilderness tourism.
With the unveiling of the luxurious Sanctuary Suites, the Group strengthens its legacy and renews its commitment to elevating the experience of Corbett’s luxury-conscious traveller,” added Vibhas Prasad.
Thoughtfully crafted for travellers seeking elevated comfort and a stronger sense of place, the 18 Sanctuary Suites span 925 sq. ft. and open into a spacious foyer and living area. Their design draws from Uttarakhand’s cultural and natural identity, with earth-toned palettes, warm wooden elements, natural fabrics, and subtle references to Buksa weaving, Avani-inspired dyes, and Aipan motifs creating interiors that feel both rooted and contemporary.
Each suite includes a private sit-out overlooking either the forest or the river, along with a walk-in wardrobe, rain and hand shower enclosure, double vanity, and premium bath amenities. Guests staying in the Sanctuary block also have access to an exclusive temperature-controlled pool, set amid thick foliage that offers a serene retreat within the wilderness.
Adding to the experience is the Gurney House Deck, which offers scenic views and a curated menu. Guests can further explore the region through signature activities such as the Himalayan Mountain Drive, the Corbett Village Trail, guided nature walks, and slow-travel excursions highlighting the landscape and culture of Corbett.
This December, The Riverview Retreat will roll out a series of guest experiences and CSR-led initiatives, building on LHG’s long-standing work in Sundarkhal village, which includes skill development, employment support, and ‘Vocal for Local’ programs.
With the launch of the Sanctuary Suites, guests are invited to experience a refreshed chapter where luxury, culture, and wilderness come together reflecting the vision with which LHG has shaped Corbett for over three decades.
