Restaurant India News: Kumar Shobhan Takes Charge as Multi-Property GM for Marriott’s Two Kolkata Hotels

Marriott International has appointed Kumar Shobhan as the Multi-Property General Manager for The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat and Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata, strengthening its leadership team in the city.

With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Shobhan brings deep expertise in hotel operations, sales and marketing, revenue management, food and beverage, and guest experience enhancement. Known for his people-centric leadership and strong commercial acumen, he has built a reputation for delivering operational excellence across leading hospitality brands.

An alumnus of the Institute of Hotel Management, Goa, Shobhan began his career in 2000 as an F&B associate with Hyatt Regency Delhi. Over the years, he has held key leadership roles with renowned brands such as Hyatt, Taj, and The Imperial, contributing to several pre-opening projects, major renovations, and transformative guest experience initiatives.

In 2017, he took on his first General Manager role in his hometown, successfully leading the opening of Hyatt Regency Lucknow. Having spent a significant part of his career with Hyatt International, he is widely respected for building strong workplace cultures while driving business performance.

At Marriott, Shobhan will now oversee operations at both The Westin Kolkata Rajarht and Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata, bringing his balanced leadership style, operational discipline, and passion for exceptional hospitality to the forefront.
