ibis, one of Accor’s largest economy hotel brands, has named Sachin Maheshwary as Cluster General Manager for ibis Mumbai, strengthening its leadership structure in one of the most competitive hospitality markets in India. The move signals a sharper operational focus for the brand in Mumbai, where performance consistency, cost control, and guest experience are critical for scale-driven growth.
With over two decades of experience across luxury, upscale, and economy hotels, Maheshwary brings hands-on expertise in hotel openings, large renovation programs, food and beverage strategy, and performance management in varied market cycles. In his new role, he will manage the ibis portfolio in Mumbai, with a mandate to improve operational efficiency, standardise service delivery, and support long-term business sustainability across properties.
Tejus Jose, Director of Operations, ibis and ibis Styles India, said, “Sachin is a leader who understands hotels from the inside out. He has a strong feel for operations, a genuine connection with people, and a sharp sense of how brands need to evolve to stay relevant. Mumbai is a very demanding market, and ibis has a significant opportunity here. We believe Sachin’s experience, energy, and collaborative leadership style will help our hotels raise the bar on performance, guest satisfaction, and consistency across the portfolio.”
Maheshwary has held senior roles with Accor and IHCL, leading multiple hotel openings, overseeing renovation-led repositioning, and building food and beverage formats aligned to changing consumer demand. Most recently, he served as General Manager of Novotel Goa Resort and Spa and Novotel Goa Candolim, along with his regional role as F and B Alchemist for Accor India and South Asia, where he worked with cross-market teams to improve culinary propositions, brand-led dining concepts, and in-hotel revenue performance.
Sachin Maheshwary, Cluster General Manager, ibis Mumbai, said, “Mumbai is a city that never slows down, and that energy reflects in the expectations of our guests. I am excited to take on this responsibility with ibis in a market that is both challenging and full of opportunity. ibis has built a strong reputation for offering smart, dependable hospitality at great value, and I look forward to working with the teams on the ground to make our hotels even more relevant to today’s travellers. My focus will be on building strong teams, sharpening operational excellence, and creating guest experiences that feel warm, efficient, and genuinely welcoming.”
The appointment underlines ibis’ strategy to strengthen leadership depth in metro markets that drive volume-led growth. By tightening operational leadership in Mumbai, the brand is looking to improve asset-level performance, team productivity, and guest retention while maintaining cost discipline in a high-competition, high-demand urban market.
