Éloïse Bistro & Boulangerie, located in a quiet South Kolkata neighbourhood, introduces the city to a refined blend of European bistro culture and traditional French bakery craftsmanship. Spread across 2,000 sq. ft with a 48-seater layout, the café combines the warmth of a local dining space with the sophistication of a modern pâtisserie. Founded by Anwesha Bhattacharjee and Rohit Chowdhury, the concept was inspired by the everyday café lifestyle of Europe—where the day begins with fresh bread and ends with coffee and conversation. The name “Éloïse” represents elegance, artistry, and modern European grace, aligning with the brand’s dual identity—a bistro serving modern European dishes and a boulangerie specialising in artisanal breads and desserts.
Nestled in South Kolkata, the café’s design merges vintage Parisian aesthetics with modern European minimalism. Its interiors feature soft pastel hues, brass accents, French mouldings, vintage mirrors, and warm lighting, creating an inviting yet sophisticated setting. After years in the restaurant industry, Anwesha and Rohit envisioned a space that reflects authenticity, design precision, and timeless appeal.
“Éloïse is not just a café; it’s an experience of Parisienne charm in Kolkata. Every detail, from the croissant layers to the café’s blue façade, has been created to transport our guests into a world of European comfort, craftsmanship, and charm,” said Anwesha Bhattacharjee and Rohit Chowdhury, Founders, Éloïse.
The culinary direction is led by Executive Chef Sharafat Hussain, whose three-decade career spans luxury hotels and international cruise lines. “Every dish has a story, and every plate is a celebration of texture, flavor, and art,” he said.
The all-day bistro menu features a mix of Continental, French, and Modern European dishes alongside global favourites. Signature offerings such as Truffle and Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries, Éloïse Vol au Vent, Chicken Schnitzel, Niçoise Salad, and Gnocchi in Truffle Butter highlight the brand’s focus on craftsmanship and flavour balance. The dessert menu, with selections like Crème D’Or and Crème D’Lune, showcases the café’s patisserie expertise, while beverages such as the Dark Chocolate Hot evoke the essence of European café culture.
At the core of the brand lies the in-house Éloïse Boulangerie, which produces a range of sourdoughs, brioches, croissants, and tea cakes. All items are baked fresh each morning using premium butter and flour, with zero preservatives. The boulangerie also curates bespoke festive hampers and gourmet gifting options, extending the brand’s values of quality and understated luxury beyond the café’s walls. Building on its initial success, Éloïse plans to expand into a chain of boutique cafés and boulangeries across India, beginning with a second outlet in Salt Lake City, Kolkata, followed by locations in Delhi and Mumbai. The founders are also developing an online gourmet bakery platform to enable pan-India deliveries of their artisanal products.
Éloïse Bistro & Boulangerie operates on the principles of authenticity, design, and warmth. It aims to redefine European café culture in India by offering a balance of refined food, aesthetics, and hospitality. In an industry where experience and quality increasingly define success, Éloïse stands as a model of how European-inspired dining can resonate within India’s growing premium café segment.
