
Shri Ravi Kumar Ohri, a visionary entrepreneur, hospitality pioneer, and the driving force behind the iconic Ohri’s legacy, passed away on 26 August 2026.
Ravi Ohri’s remarkable journey in hospitality began in 1976, when he laid the foundation for what would become one of Hyderabad’s most distinctive and celebrated hospitality brands. With the success of his first venture, Hotel Baseraa, he went on to build a remarkable portfolio of hotels, restaurants and banquet spaces across Hyderabad.
What set Ravi Ohri apart was not simply his entrepreneurial success, but his extraordinary ability to envision dining as an experience.
He pioneered innovative concepts and theme-based restaurants, giving Hyderabad’s standalone restaurants a new identity and redefining the way people experienced food, hospitality and entertainment.
His spirit of innovation became the hallmark of Ohri’s. Each new venture reflected his belief that hospitality should be memorable, imaginative and constantly evolving. His contribution helped shape Hyderabad into a city known for its vibrant and diverse dining culture.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ravi Ohri will be remembered as a man whose vision inspired generations within the hospitality and culinary community.
The Telangana Chefs Association has paid tribute to him as a true visionary whose contribution left an enduring mark on the city’s culinary landscape.

His passing is an immense loss to his family, friends, colleagues and the wider hospitality fraternity. Yet his legacy lives on—in the restaurants and hotels he created, in the people he inspired, and in the countless memories shared around tables across Hyderabad.
He is survived by his wife, Kamal Ohri, Son, Amar Ohri, who is leading Ohri’s with innovative brands like Qaffeine, Sahib’s Barbeque, Tansen amongst other and daughters.
Ravi Kumar Ohri leaves behind more than a business legacy; he leaves behind a vision that changed the way Hyderabad dined, celebrated and experienced hospitality.
