The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the licence of Delhi's Park Plaza hotel following the discovery of multiple food safety and hygiene violations during an inspection.
Inspectors identified the use of degraded cooking oil, expired food products and unhygienic conditions within the property's food handling and storage areas. The inspection also revealed fungal growth on vegetables, pest infestation, water leakage and inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items.
Authorities further reported that 63.6 kg of expired food intended for use was found on the premises. Based on these observations, FSSAI suspended the hotel's licence citing serious non-compliance with food safety standards. The action highlights the increasing regulatory focus on food safety compliance across the hospitality sector, particularly in areas related to food storage, hygiene management and quality control.
