Food delivery startup Amigo has raised Rs 4.5 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Foxhog Ventures, while simultaneously launching its services in Kolkata as it enters one of India's largest food delivery markets.
The newly raised capital will be used to strengthen the company's operational capabilities, enhance its technology platform and support expansion into additional markets across India.
Founded by Anshuk Sengupta and Saswata C, the Kolkata-based startup offers AI-powered food discovery, meal delivery and healthy meal subscription services. The platform focuses on freshly prepared meals positioned around affordability, quality and freshness.
With its launch in Kolkata, Amigo enters a market currently dominated by established food delivery platforms. The company plans to differentiate itself by offering competitively priced meals while emphasising freshly prepared food as part of its customer proposition.
The latest investment is also expected to support customer acquisition and platform development as the startup scales its operations.
The funding round was led by Foxhog Ventures, a venture capital firm established in 2020 by Tarun Poddar. According to the firm, it has investments across six countries, supports more than 200 portfolio companies and operates over 150 CSP centres across India.
The investment reflects continued investor interest in India's food technology sector, where companies are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence to improve food discovery, delivery services and personalised meal offerings.
With fresh capital and its Kolkata launch, Amigo is looking to strengthen its presence in India's evolving food delivery ecosystem while expanding its technology-led services into new markets.
