Food delivery platform Zomato has introduced priority delivery feature for Covid-19 emergencies, Deepinder Goyal, CEO, Zomato announced the same on his Twitter yesterday.
“At Zomato, we will prioritise these orders by providing fastest rider assignment, and dedicated customer support in case of queries. Thousands of restaurants have pledged to prioritise these orders in their kitchen above all others,” shared Goyal in his tweet.
This comes at a time when the whole country is going through one of the biggest crisis and there is a rapid surge in the number of cases in India.
As per the new addition, during check-out on the Zomato app, users will have the option to mark their orders for Covid-19 emergency, which will alert the restaurant to prepare and deliver the order on priority.
“All deliveries to such customers will be contactless by default to ensure the safety of our riders, and subsequent customers. Needless to say, all customers should opt in for contactless deliveries right now,” added Goyal.
Several users raised concerns over the feature being misused. For now, the notification on the check-out urges users to treat this service as an ambulance and not misuse it.
Goyal also thanked the restaurant industry for joining hands to serve our customers who need us the most right now.
