Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), major dairy which sells milk and other dairy products under the Amul brand, said it has promoted Kishore Jhala as the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Amul has branches like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Haryana (apart from Gujarat) but Punjab is going to be crucial, due to the scale of commercial dairy farming and the highest yield per cattle.
Asserting that there is a huge opportunity of milk processing in the state, Sodhi said Punjab produces 2.70 crore litres of milk and out of which 1.60 crore litres is surplus.
Patel added that Sodhi has done a remarkable job especially in marketing. He has a long experience of working with the cooperative and had worked with Dr Kurien.
With the increased prices, Amul Gold will now be sold at Rs 48, where as Amul Shakti, Amul Taaza and Amul Slim and Tream will cost Rs 44, Rs 36 and Rs 34, respectively.\r\n
Though the central government has not included dairy products in the FTA yet, Sodhi said that GCMMF has been cautioning the government against this move.
