Swiggy Dineout Launches ‘Order-in-Cinemas’, Partners with Cinepolis, Asian Cinemas and POS Aggregators

Swiggy has introduced ‘Order-in-Cinemas’ on Swiggy Dineout, allowing moviegoers to order food and beverages directly from their seats. The service has been launched in partnership with multiplex operators Cinepolis and Asian Cinemas across multiple screens.

The offering is also being integrated with cinema technology providers including Impact, owned and operated by UFO Moviez, and Showbizz as integration with additional POS aggregators is currently in progress.

The new service follows a simple scan, browse, order, and pay and delivery process. Moviegoers can scan a QR code placed inside the cinema hall, access the venue’s menu through Swiggy Dineout, place an order and have it delivered to their seats.

Beyond food ordering, the platform will allow users to access information on upcoming movie releases, trailers, posters, special screenings, events and promotional offers. Discounts on food orders are also aimed at making in-cinema dining more accessible. For cinema operators, the service is positioned as an additional revenue opportunity. By enabling food and beverage orders during screenings, it can help increase average spend per customer and revenue per screen, while also creating incremental orders. Cinemas can use the platform to offer personalised combos and drive upselling and cross-selling of food and beverages.

Speaking on the launch, Swapnil Bajpai, CEO, Swiggy Dineout & Scenes said, “Movie-going is an experience built around entertainment, and food continues to be an important part of it. We believe that ordering food should further elevate the movie watching experience for cinema lovers. We are thrilled to partner with leading movie theater brands like Cinepolis and Asian Cinemas, as well as top as top aggregators to bring this category-defining service to life.

“With the ‘Order-in-Cinemas’ offering on Swiggy Dineout, we are expanding the horizons of how consumers can use Swiggy. By removing the need to stand in queues or leave the movie to grab that tub of popcorn, we hope to make the overall cinema experience even more seamless. This first-of-its-kind collaboration not only reflects the growing possibilities in the eating-out landscape, enhances convenience for consumers but also creates new business touchpoints for cineplexes,” added Bajpai.

For POS providers, the integration is designed as a plug-and-play solution that can be added to existing cinema technology systems.

Adding to the same, Devang Sampat, Managing Director, Cinepolis India noted, “FOOVIES was built on a premise that our guests do not think of food and movies as two separate decisions. They think of them as one single outing. Cinépolis has years of global experience in making food a seamless part of the cinema visit, and our early rollout with Swiggy Dineout in India confirmed it. Ordering becomes effortless, the offers add value for our guests, and they stay with the film from start to finish. That is the experience we want every visit to deliver.”

Elaborating on this, Rajesh Mishra, Founder, and MD, UFO Moviez shared, “We have recently partnered with Swiggy Dineout for integrating this service into our impact ticketing solution at the cinemas. It's a very simple and elegant solution and I'm sure this is going to give value to the cinema as well as the viewer and improve their overall movie watching experience. We have already started the integration process, and it will be a very seamless experience for the audience, providing a wider assortment and availability of food on the seat itself.”

Swiggy Dineout currently brings together more than 48,000 restaurants across 60-plus cities, offering services such as restaurant discovery, table reservations, dining discounts and digital payments through the Swiggy app. The platform also provides restaurants with demand-generation, marketing and performance-led growth solutions.
