Restaurant India News: Swiggy Shuts 15-Minute Food Delivery App SNACC Amid Profitability Challenges

Food delivery platform Swiggy has shut down its 15-minute food delivery app SNACC, less than a year after launching it. The service struggled to become profitable and SNACC was operated in Bengaluru and Gurugram. According to reports, employees from the vertical will be moved to other parts of the company. In an internal email, Swiggy said that while SNACC was beginning to find product-market fit, the overall business economics made it difficult to scale. The company declined to comment publicly.

Launched as a pilot in January 2025, SNACC offered breakfast items, coffee, snacks, bakery products and beverages. It entered the market when ultra-fast food delivery was gaining popularity. Rivals like Blinkit launched ‘Bistro’, while Zepto introduced ‘Zepto Cafe’. However, Zepto Cafe has also scaled down recently, and startup Zing shut operations last year.

There have been some positive developments in the space. Swish is reportedly in talks to raise $30–35 million in Series B funding. Meanwhile, Eternal’s Bistro has expanded to 45 kitchens across Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. Swiggy has also recently shut down other experimental services, including Pyng, Minis and Genie. Despite launching and closing multiple verticals, the company continues to report losses. In Q3 FY26, Swiggy posted a 33% year-on-year increase in net loss to ₹1,065 crore, largely due to losses in its quick commerce arm, Instamart.

India’s quick commerce sector remains highly competitive. During the Q3 FY26 earnings call, Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha said heavy competition is leading to low customer loyalty, with users switching between platforms. Along with Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto, players like JioMart, BigBasket, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon are competing aggressively in India’s ecommerce market, which is expected to reach $40 billion by 2030.

Several companies are also engaged in price wars. Zepto recently removed platform, delivery and handling fees on orders above ₹99, while Blinkit has waived fees in select locations.
