Managing Committee Member, NRAI & Managing Director, Yum Yum Cha

Varun Tuli (b.1982) is an alumnus of St Columba’s School, New Delhi and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he completed his Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research in 2005.

During his college days, he began a consultancy firm called ‘The Office for Technical Consulting Resources’, which was a student run firm that employed undergraduates to PhD students.

Varun also pioneered partnerships with industry specific firms such as ‘Accenture’ (Technical Consulting), ZS Associates (Operations Consulting), and Kurt-Salmon Associates (Retail Consulting). While at College Varun also interned with Lehman Brothers, New York, as a fixed income analyst. After college, Varun along with his father, set up ‘TULI Tools’ out of Gurgaon, a manufacturing and trading facility of Machine Tools and Industrial Supplies. Food is the greatest passion for the young restaurateur who is also a budding chef.

During his various travels across the world, he enjoys discovering new cultures via their cuisines. On his time off, Varun loves to experiment in the Kitchen, with his icons and mentors being Thomas Keller, Alan Yau, and Ferran Adria. As a continuously innovating entrepreneur, Varun is always looking for new ways and ideas to bring to life individual passions. In 2008, Varun decided to follow his passion and setup Yum Yum Tree, India’s first restaurant with the concept of conveyer belt sushi. For eight glorious years Delhites lined up at Yum Yum Tree for their legendary brunches, affordable prices and a cheesecake that was famous beyond the borders of New Delhi.

He subsequently setup Yum Yum Cha, a first of its kind chain of origami themed Asian restaurants. Yum Yum Cha started it’s journey in 2014 at one of India’s premiere shopping and food destinations, Select Citywalk Mall in New Delhi. With unprecedented love from the people of Delhi, YYC expanded to DLF Cyber Hub in 2016 and Khan Market in 2017 and has many other outlets in the pipeline.

Yum Yum Cha believes in serving food that makes you smile and that comes across in our philosophy ‘Little Bundles of Joy and Huge Bowls of Happiness’. Everyday hundreds of hungry souls line up to eat fresh sushi, dim sums, sizzling stone pots, mochi ice creams and so much more.

Mr. Varun Tuli also set up Food Inc, one of India’s premiere full outdoor-catering services. Started in 2012, Food Inc. specializes in Asian, Pan-Indian, Continental and Fusion foods. Having catered events in all over India and Overseas, Food Inc. is known for their innovative ideas, immaculate presentation and an overall memorable experience. Mr.Varun Tuli, looks into the curating of menus of each event himself and is involved in every aspect to make sure your event is exceptional.

Noshi-Yum Asian Delivery, started in 2016, Noshi has rapidly grown to be Delhi’s favourite Asian take out place. Noshi meaning a gift of good fortune in Japanese prides itself on its packaging, which ensures your food reaches you fresh and delicious. Sushi is sent on ice packs, Mochi Ice Creams on dry ice. DimSums reach you fresh and hot. The positive response Noshi has received has ensured more outlets even before Noshi completes a year.

Varun’s drive to innovate never dies and he hopes to expand these ventures to even greater heights in the coming years.
