Restaurant India News: Chef Manish Mehrotra Unveils MMCA-A Platform for Purposeful, Rooted Innovation

Chef Manish Mehrotra, widely regarded as the leading innovator in modern Indian cuisine, today announced the launch of his most personal project- Manish Mehrotra Culinary Arts (MMCA).

Conceived as a contemporary culinary platform, MMCA will craft immersive dining experiences in Indian and Asian cuisines, blending memory, craft, and global inspiration.

MMCA is founded to be a catalyst for shaping the future of India’s culinary landscape, creating new restaurant concepts, mentoring young chefs, and preserving India’s culinary wisdom. The platform will combine research, storytelling, and hospitality to shape food that is inventive yet deeply rooted in tradition.

“At its heart, MMCA is about food as a cultural narrative, connecting tradition with the world, and chefs with their craft,” said Chef Mehrotra by adding that it’s a return to where it all began - flavour, memories, and the joy of cooking without boundaries.

MMCA is co-founded by three distinct voices with a shared belief in clarity, culture, and craft; Chef Manish Mehrotra Revered for reinventing Indian cuisine with intelligence and restraint, he now builds a new home for ideas beyond a single restaurant format, Amit Khanna, Investor, art collector, and founder of Amaya Ventures, brings cultural sensitivity and strategic foresight and Binny Bansal, Co-founder of Flipkart, contributes entrepreneurial rigor and systems-driven thinking.

“Backing Chef Manish is about more than opening restaurants, it’s about giving him the freedom to own his craft and set the stage for future chefs,” said Khanna.

Commenting on the same, Bansal shared, “MMCA isn’t chasing trends. It’s built with clarity and patience, designed to evolve meaningfully over the years.”

First Expressions of MMCA

The platform’s first restaurant will open in New Delhi in late 2025, exploring grain, fire, and comfort - a modern interpretation of Indian kitchens expressed through soulful flavours, seasonal ingredients, and restrained design.

“My first project under MMCA is quiet, purposeful, and Indian food-forward - measured in approach and defined by integrity,” added Mehrotra.

In early 2026, MMCA will also launch a catering arm, extending Chef Mehrotra’s philosophy from intimate restaurant tables to larger gatherings and celebrations.

More Than a Meal

At its core, MMCA is a return to the unpolished, the unhurried, and the soulful. To kitchens where food was not styled but prepared with integrity. To cuisine as method, memory, and message.
