Ganga Prabhakar Co-Founder, Coffee Mechanics

Ganga Prabhakar is the Co-founder of Coffee Mechanics, one of India’s early specialty coffee brands and among the country’s first vertically integrated farm-to-cup coffee companies. Rooted in five generations of coffee-growing heritage, Coffee Mechanics marks 10 years of building Indian coffee experiences across origin, roasting, cafés, consumer education and hospitality. With a background in brand building, consumer experience and hospitality-led storytelling, Ganga has helped shape Coffee Mechanics into a brand that connects agriculture, craft, design and modern consumer culture. Her work focuses on giving Indian coffee stronger representation by showcasing its diversity, quality, nuance and origin, while making specialty coffee more accessible and relevant to today’s consumers. Through Kana, the culinary experience by Coffee Mechanics, she has extended the brand’s farm-to-cup philosophy into a casual dining format designed for Indian coffee lovers, with a focus on local ingredients, familiar flavours, comfort-led food and thoughtful hospitality.
Ganga has also been actively involved in origin-led plantation tours, educating consumers and hospitality professionals on coffee quality, processing and biodiversity. She has engaged with hospitality students and faculty members from leading hotel management institutions to promote better understanding and procurement of quality coffee. At Coffee Mechanics and through partner collaborations, she has crafted modern coffee experiences and beverages designed to intrigue the evolving consumer palate while staying rooted in origin and craft. She is an active member of the Specialty Coffee Association of India (SCAI) and has been part of the organising team for the India International Coffee Festival (IICF), contributing to initiatives that promote and popularise Indian coffee.
