General Manager, The Westin Chennai Velachery

Lakshmanan Ramanathan, General Manager at The Westin Chennai Velachery has been associated with the hotel since May 2017. With more than two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, he brings strong organizational capabilities and leadership skills to this role and is responsible for overall operations, revenue targets and positioning of the hotel.

Lakshmanan began his career with Rajvilas (An Oberoi Resort), Jaipur. He has been with the Marriott group since 2001 and has worked with various Marriott properties across India. Prior to joining the Westin Chennai Velachery, he was working with Courtyard by Marriott Kochi as General Manager.

During his tenure of 20+ years with the Marriott brand, he has worked in various properties across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Goa, Kochi and Chennai and successfully launched the first JW Marriott brand in South India.

Lakshman’s leadership style is based on the concept of challenging his team and thus helping them discover their potential and provide support wherever required for the team to achieve their goals. He is known to be the go to person in case of an emergency and he is extremely focused, conscientious and target driven.

Lakshmanan brings with him wide-range of knowledge and expertise in all areas of Rooms operations having been a Director of Rooms twice, Front Office Manager, Executive Housekeeper and Spa Manager in his 22 year stint with the hotels. He thrives working under demanding situations and is passionate about striving for excellence.

Lakshmanan’s continued efforts and immense contribution has been acknowledged at various stages by Marriott International and the highlight was being awarded as the Leader of the Year for 2007.

Lakshman takes pride in being recognized as a Pre-opening / Projects specialist. He was also a Board member of the Rooms Advisory Board for Marriott International in Asia Pacific and was actively involved in Rooms operations initiatives from Marriott International headquarters in Bethesda.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management & Catering Sciences and enjoys traveling and reading and is also passionate about the mean machines.
