Adani Wilmar Ltd aims for Basmati Rice Market leadership with the launch of Fortune Basmati Rice

Adani Wilmar, the Ahmedabad based edible oil brand which earlier this year launched Basmati rice by entering into premium rice brand market aims for the Basmati rice leadership in India.

The company is also planning to launch products like pulses, beans and nuggets other than serving edible oil and rice.

According to a press statement, the edible oil maker, on an average, spends about Rs 200 crore to Rs 250 crore in capacity expansion every year.

The group is distributing its product through its one million retail partners and is also available at mom and pops shops.

India produces over 40 lakh tonnes of rice every year out of which 38 lakh tonnes is being exported and 12 lakh tonnes of rice is consumed domestically. The total rice market of India is of Rs 50, 000 crore. The company exports its products to 19 countries in the Middle East, South East Asia and East Africa.
