Tune Hotels eyes South India

AirAsia CEO, Tony Fernandes is planning to expand his hospitality venture, Tune Hotels in South India. Addressing the media, Fernandes, said, “Like AirAsia, Tune Hotels will grow in India. We will focus more on South India. Wherever AirAsia flies we would have a hotel there.” According to the sources close to the entrepreneur, the hotels would see around $30 million (Rs180 crore) in investments.

Tune hotels opened its first India hotel in Ahmedabad in 2013. The hotel has 100 rooms is an integral part of the 4-D Square Mall, located on the Vista-Gandinagar highway. The group is also building hotels in Biwadi, Neemrana, Daman and Chandigarh which will be operational from next year.


Speaking on the same, Mark Lankester, CEO, Tune Hotels, said, "As an urban product and service, Tune Hotels naturally prefer to be in major metropolises but when you look at India as a whole there are opportunities in many cities outside of the metros.”
