Indian Accent shines in New York, serves local Indian delicacies

Indian Accent, India’s top restaurant has opened its first international restaurant in New York.

Voted as India’s best restaurant for two consecutive years, the restaurant is offering inventive Indian cuisine that combines global ingredients and techniques with authentic Indian flavours.

Founded by restaurateur Rohit Khattar and managed by celebrated Chef Manish Mehrotra, has been receiving rave reviews ever since it opened late last month and has already hosted Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman among its early diners.

"We have been evaluating multiple opportunities to open another Indian Accent, but none have been as exciting and promising as New York City. We have just opened and hope that New York too shall embrace our inventive Indian cuisine," said Khattar, Chairman of Old World Hospitality, which operates two convention and performing arts centres and two hotels in the NCR region and over 40 restaurants across India.

The group has worked for several months to design a menu that caters to the international diner in New York City but at the same time has the rich flavours of cuisine from all corners of India.

A team of chefs from the original Indian Accent are assisting Mehrotra in the kitchen in New York as the restaurant establishes a foothold in the city's competitive fine dining market.

"It's a great time for modern Indian food, both in India and overseas. We are delighted with the way our beautiful interiors have shaped up and excited that our food is being appreciated so much in New York," added Mehrotra, who is Corporate Chef Luxury Dining at Old World Hospitality, said.

Indian Accent's contemporary Indian menu showcases Mehrotra's ability to merge varied techniques with traditional flavor profiles.

The restaurant is offering its elegantly-served menu in a selection of two, three or four courses as well as a set chef tasting menu of seven courses that includes unique gourmet tweaks.
