Mr. Akshay Bector
Managing Director, Mrs. Bector's Food Specialties Ltd.

Mr Bector is the Managing Director of the Rs 500-crore Mrs Bector’s Food Specialties Limited which is India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of a wide range of food products including biscuits, confectionaries, sauces, hams and ketchups, Indian snacks, ready to eat food, condiments, frozen products and bakery products.

Armed with an engineering degree in Industrial and Production, Mr Bector started his career in 1987 and two years later he set up a modern bread plant. With a career spanning more than 15 years in food business, Mr Bector has been instrumental in the company’s exponential growth. With his business acumen and joint ventures, he steered the company’s fortunes with increased business volumes while building on the foundation of quality service and customer focus. He constantly brought in fresh ideas to the table, rejuvenated the service list through innovations and built strong brand equity amongst the key stakeholders.

As the managing director of the company, he is responsible for Mrs Bector Foods Specialities Limited corporate functions, including finance, strategy, business process optimisation, corporate platforms and innovation, procurement, investor relations and information technology. He has flair to identify and troubleshoot critical issues impacting marketing, sales, financial operations and distribution. At 49, Mr Bector’s positive approach to life and the excitement of doing something new every day has kept him and the company going, attracting marketers and PE investors such as Goldman Sachs. He single-handedly got the group into various new business streams and was responsible for negotiating and putting up two joint ventures in 1996 to manufacture breeding and coating system for frozen snack foods and make sauces and liquid condiments with Quaker and Oats Co, USA.

Under his stewardship, the company forayed into ready-to-eat food products as well as snacks, including namkeen which are even exported to markets such as Middle East, the US, Canada and England. With his vision and astute leadership, the company supplies its food products to brands like McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Barista and Cafe Coffee Day, and exports its food products to 50 countries.
