Mr. A. D. Singh
Managing Director, Olive Bar & Kitchen

Mr. Singh is one of India’s best-known figures in the fields of leisure and restaurants. Over the last twenty years he has been at the forefront of the lifestyle revolution sweeping the country. His restaurants and other ventures have been the trendsetters for these industries, resulting in sound reputation, credibility and goodwill.

Mr. Singh was born in 1960 in Delhi but moved to Bombay to study soon after. He schooled at Cathedral and John Connon followed by Jai Hind and the St Xavier’s College. After that he won a scholarship to study Electrical Engineering at Lafayette College, PA, USA.

His restaurant ventures began in 1990 when he opened Just Desserts, a jazz café that served only coffee and desserts. Filling a huge void, the restaurant was an immediate hit and was even described by India Today as the 'phenomenon of the nineties'.

Then in 1999 he set up and opened the landmark ‘The Bowling Company’ which set the standards for leisure in this country. In 2000, under Mr. Singh, the bowling company underwent a successful private placement.

In 2000, Mr. Singh also opened ‘the Olive Bar and Kitchen' which was immediately voted as one of Bombay’s top five and India's top twenty restaurants by an Outlook survey. This was followed by the opening of Suzie Wong, Bombay’s first floating bar off marine drive.

In 2003, Mr. Singh opened the Olive Bar & Kitchen in New Delhi, which was selected as one of the ‘Best New Restaurants in the World’. Olive Bar & Kitchen also featured in the Conde Nast Traveler Annual Hot List 2004. In 2005 he launched Olive Beach in Bangalore, which has won the Restaurant of the Year award since the past two years and is among the most popular restaurants in the city.
